PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Palm kernel shell is a waste product resulting from the extraction of oil palm fruits into crude palm oil (CPO). Palm kernel shell has a shell-like shape and has a hard layer.
Palm Kernel Shells Content
Palm kernel shells have a high moisture content. Analysis shows that this part of the palm fruit contains about 15-25% moisture (as received) or 8-11% moisture (Air Dried Basis).
Ash Content
The palm kernel shells have a low ash content, typically ranging from 1 to 3%. This characteristic makes them a clean and environmentally friendly fuel source. Additionally, their low ash content makes it easier to process them into organic fertilizer.
Volatility
In addition to water, palm kernel shells have a high volatile content, which is around 68 to 70%. This high level of volatilization makes it flammable, making it suitable for use as an alternative fuel.
Fix Carbon
The fixed carbon content of pure activated carbon derived from oil palm is approximately 20-22%. This makes it a viable environmentally-friendly material for use in the industrial sector.
Calories
Palm kernel shell has a high calorific content of more than 4,200 Kcal. This makes it an alternative fuel that can replace fossil energy sources.
